In Norse mythology the Valkyrie (whos name means "chooser of those who are slain") were called upon after battle from Odin to choose which warriors were to be taken to Valhalla. The most common creature associated with the Valkyrie were the ravens; whether it is in art work or stories, they played a major role in helping the Valkyrie with there duties. According to legend ravens would fly alongside the strong warriors, and feast on the flesh of the unworthy.
